Urban Interiors' Ashton Apartment

[Urban Interiors' brand new logo, cards, and website were designed by Christopher Hanley]

I recently met Urban Interiors owners Susan Smith and Vicki Crew while doing story for Modern Luxury about Smith's fantastic apartment in the Azure, which you will see soon on my blog and in the magazine. Urban Interiors specializes in modern and transitional looks for high rise condos.

But first....

I wanted to show you this fresh, young apartment that Vicki did for her daughter in the Ashton. She did a great job of softening the hard edges of this space, and it was done on a budget, which is even better.

LinkThe Jamali painting belonged to Vicki, originally. Jamali is carried at David Sutherland Showroom.  The blue-gray banquettes were made by William & Wesley and the table is from Z Gallerie.

The ottoman and draperies were also made by William & Wesley, and tied together with this rug, which is actually a carpet cut to fit and finished on the edges -- another cost-saving idea.

All very pretty and glamorous. The mirror, if it's not from Z Gallerie, is from a similar big box type store. (William & Wesley made the slipper chairs, too).

Vicki designed the buttoned headboard to play off the pair of mirrored Z Gallerie consoles. A flexible lighting fixture was mounted over the bed in lieu of beside table lamps. I like this idea!

Because this entry hall was long, dark and empty, and there was no budget for art, Vicki had pieces of beautiful fabric stretched on the same frames that hold artists' canvases and hung those. Fixtures from Home Depot lights them up.

An inexpensive Pottery Barn style desk and a Philippe Starck tripod floor lamp, purchased at a clearance sale at Haroo Haroo.
